Who is eligible

Who is eligible

High school seniors at Mater Dei High School in Breese, IL and Collinsville High School in Collinsville, IL are eligible. 

Recipients of the scholarships must plan to attend a college in Illinois or Missouri, have a GPA of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or 4.5 (on a 5.0 scale) and demonstrate some or all of the traits listed in the application below.

  • Two $4,000 scholarships will be awarded in May 2025. 
  • All candidates wishing to apply must submit a completed application by April 30, 2025.

Dalton Timmermann - Mater Dei

Son of Neal and Maggie Timmermann of Carlyle, planning to attend Illinois College to study Business Management. 

Alexis Gassmann - CHS

Daughter  of Robert and Kimberly Gassmann from Maryville, planning to attend the University of Missouri to study Biomedical Engineering. 


2023

Shyanne Thompson - Mater Dei

Daughter of Douglas and Khristy Thompson of Lebanon, planning to attend Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to concentrate on Pharmaceuticals. 

Sam Stuckey - CHS

Son  of Jeff and Jean Stuckey from Collinsville planning to attend University of Illinois at Chicago to study Computer Science and Computer Architecture. 


2022

Caleigh Arentsen - Mater Dei

The daughter of Leigh Ann and Ron Arentsen of Germantown. Carleigh ranked at the top of her high school class and plans to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to study Chemical and Biological Engineering  

Jacob McChristian - CHS

The son of Tom and Richelle McChristian. Jacob was highly active in his CHS class, participated in many school activities and represented CHS at the VEX Robotics Competition State Championship. In the fall of 2022, Jacob plans to attend Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and major in Mechanical Engineering.


2021

Olyvia Wilkes - Mater Dei

Daughter of Keith and Julie Wilken of Bartelso planning to attend University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with concentration in Health Sciences/Pre-Medicine. 

Carlei Day - CHS

Daughter of Brian and Kristy Day of Collinsville. Plans to attend Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville to study Nursing.


2020

Meredith Innes - Mater Dei

The daughter of Bob (deceased) and Nancy Innes from Damiansville graduated at the top of her class and plans to attend University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to study Civil Engineering.  

Maxwell Meseke - CHS

The son of Craig and Mindie Meseke will be attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to pursue a degree in Statistics.  


2019

Nicholas Wolden - Mater Dei

The son of Peter and Ampero Wolden from Centralia plans to attend Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville to pursue an accounting degree. 

Amy Burgess - CHS

Daughter of Tim and Sandy Burgess of Collinsville plans to attend the University of Illinois to pursue a degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences. 


2018

Lauren Kampwerth - Mater Dei

The daughter of Ronald Kampwerth and Lori Kampwerth, Lauren plans to attend Illinois State University and major in Elementary Education. She played softball in high school and maintained a 3.96 GPA.

Bridgett Stephens - CHS

Bridget ranked 8th in her class and plans to major in Radiation Therapy at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. At CHS she was a member of STEM Club, Dance Team, National Honor Society and various other clubs.


2017

Peyton Kreke - Mater Dei

The son of Tammy & Jim Kreke of Bartelso, Peyton plans to attend Illinois State University to pursue a major in Nursing.  Peyton ranked first in his graduating class and was awarded Knight of the Year by his peers and the staff. He was Vice President of the National Honor Society, Senior Class Officer and Student Ambassador.   

Joseph Jackstadt - CHS

The son of Renee and Tom Jackstadt from Collinsville, Joseph was recognized with numerous honors including Honor Roll for 4 years, Athletic Scholar, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Illinois State Scholar. He spent his past summers as a volunteer at numerous hospitals, churches and charity organizations. Joseph will be attending Illinois State University and plans to major in Nursing.


2016

Quintin Potthast - Mater Dei

Quintin, son of Daniel and Susan Potthast, the Mater Dei graduate scored a perfect 36 on his ACT test. He also maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA. Quintin was active in football, baseball, Model United Nations, Future Business Leaders of America, Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering & Student Ambassadors. His college plans are to study Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Mason Kelly - CHS

The 2016 recipient from Collinsville High School was Mason Kelly, son of Dwayne and Sherie Kelly. Mason was actively involved with student council, a member of National Honors Society and Multicultural Club, and Varsity member of CHS soccer team. He will pursue a degree in nursing at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.


2015

Elise Rainey - Mater Dei

Elise, the daughter of Mark and Ruth Rainey was a 2015 graduate of Mater Dei High School. She played softball, was active in the Pro-Life Club and was also on the Float Committee. Elise plans to pursue a degree in Computer Science at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in the Fall

Sydney Butterfield - CHS

The 2015 recipient from Collinsville High School was Sydney Butterfield, daughter of John and Nancy Butterfield. She played varsity volleyball, was President of the National Honor Society, a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and also a member of the Student Council. Sydney will be attending Eastern Illinois University and plans to obtain her degree in Social Work or Physical Therapy.


2014

Nicole Maue - Mater Dei

Nicole, daughter of Steve and Diane Maue, was the 2014 Mater Dei recipient. She was very active in high school and a member of many clubs including Student Ambassadors, FBLA, Operation Teem Safe Driving, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, pep Club, National honor Society and Catholic Youth Ministry. Nicole will be attending Illinois State University and pursuing a degree in Accounting.

Kyle Teschendorf - CHS

Kyle graduated Collinsville High School #1 in his class with a perfect GPA. He is the son of Alan and Sharon Teschendorf and will be attending the University of Illinois with plans to major in engineering. Kyle was a member of the Math Team, Science Club, National Honor Society, Student Council, Math Honor Society and Science Honor Society among others.


2013

Joseph Hummert - Mater Dei

Joseph attended Mater Dei High School and is the son of Brad and Donna Hummert. Joseph was a member of the National Honors Society and the Scholar Bowl Team for the four years he attended high school. He had an exceptional ACT score and will be attending Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville where he has been accepted to the School of Engineering to pursue a Computer Engineering Degree.

Megan Votoupal - CHS

Megan is the daughter of Edward and Kristine Votoupal. While ranking in the top 5% of her class, Megan was a member of National Honor Society, MU Alpha Theta, Spanish Honors Society, Science Club, Student Council, Illinois State Scholar and was also active in several sports. She will pursue a degree in Computer Engineering while she attends the University of Illinois-Champaign Urbana in the fall.


2012

Taylor Schumacher - Mater Dei

Taylor is the daughter of Steve Schumacher and Ann Bowen. She was a member of FBLA, Pep Club, WYSE, Track, Cross Country, Volleyball, Softball and still managed to finish #1 in her graduating class at Mater Dei High School with a perfect GPA. She is attending Eastern Illinois University and majoring in Finance.

Katherine Ross - CHS

Katherine attended Collinsville High School and is the daughter of John and Joan Ross. In high school she was active in many clubs including Science Club, Student Council, Student Congress, Kahoks Against Drugs and Alcohol and Dance Team. Katherine is pursuing a degree in Biochemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.


2011

Maria Hermann - Mater Dei

Maria is the daughter of James and Melisa Hemann and is a graduate of Mater Dei Catholic High School. Maria was a member of the marching band, an active volunteer for Relay for Life and graduated at the top of her high school class. She is attending the University of Illinois - Springfield in the fall of 2011 and major in Accounting.

Lauren Humphrey - CHS

Lauren is the daughter of Gary Humphrey and Mary Ferguson and is a graduate of Collinsville High School. Among other activities, Lauren was a member of the marching band, executive board and student council. She had a near-perfect academic record in high school and is studying music and chemistry at Eastern Illinois University.


2010

Mary Elizabeth Vance - Mater Dei

Mary is the son of Robert and Deborah Vance and has four older brothers. She attended Mater Dei Catholic High School. While ranking in the top 10% of her class, Mary was captain of the soccer team, a member of the marching band and actively involved in various other school activities. Mary is pursuing a degree in International Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Alex Schimpf - CHS

Alex attended Collinsville High School and is the son of Daniel and Susan Schimpf. In addition to playing football and basketball, Alex ranked in the top 1% of his high school class. He is applying his passion for computers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign while pursuing a degree in Computer Science.


2009

Andrew Kampwerth - Mater Dei

Andrew is the son of Ronald and Lori Kampwerth and is a graduate of Mater Dei Catholic High School. In addition to having an excellent academic record, Andrew was a member of the marching band and qualified for the IHSA golf sectionals in the fall of 2008. He is attending Illinois State University and majoring in Actuarial Science.

Adriana Romo - CHS

Adrianna is the daughter of Rodolfo and Margarita Romo and is a graduate of Collinsville High School. Adrianna is active in numerous clubs and organizations, was a recipient of the Academic Excellence Award for Illinois Scholars and ranked in the top 3% of her graduating class. She is currently in the pre-Pharmacy program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.


2008

Patrick Henrichs - Mater Dei

Patrick is the son of Donald and Patricia Henrichs and is a graduate of Mater Dei High School. In addition to many other activities and achievements, Patrick was an Illinois State Scholar and a member of the All State Academic Team in Football. He currently attends Illinois State University and is majoring in Actuarial Sciences.

Emily Kay Thompson - CHS

Emily is the daughter of David and Susan Thompson and is a graduate of Collinsville High School. In addition to numerous other activities and achievements, Emily ranked 15th in her graduating class of 443 and was a member of the Marching Band. She currently attends Eastern Illinois University and is majoring in Accounting.
